This FREE enrichment opportunity was hosted by Building Bright Futures and the North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE). Representatives from Washington D.C.-based Early Childhood Workforce Connector (ECWC), a U.S. Department of Labor-funded industry intermediary, discussed the role apprenticeships have on promoting professionalism in early childhood education and how apprenticeships serve as an onramp for a variety of career pathways in the field. Break-out sessions for providers, mentors, and apprentices reinforced the importance of advocacy and professionalism to elevate the ECE workforce and boost individual careers.

The Early Childhood Workforce Connector (ECWC) is a U.S. Department of Labor-funded industry intermediary working to increase and expand ECE registered apprenticeships. ECWC promotes developing, launching, and expanding registered apprenticeship programs to support and sustain a diverse, inclusive, well-qualified, and well-compensated ECE workforce. A strong, inclusive, and robust early childhood ecosystem contributes to the health and well-being of young children and their families, as well as the broader economy.
